Comedy of Errors Act 2, Scene 2, with Judi Dench

The Comedy of Errors - RSC, Musical, 1976. Shakespeare modifies his model for confusion over twins in the “Menaechmi” of Plautus, by adding an extra pair of twins. While the basic effect of their confused identities is farcical, this clip shows how Shakespeare also treats understandingly the stress on Adriana of confrontation with a seemingly indifferent husband. The play thoughout treats women’s social roles with sympathy.
